Liver cancer can go undetected for a long time, because it develops slowly and because in order to see symptoms of liver failure or liver cancer; the damage to the liver tissue must already be very important.

Secondary liver cancer (metastasized in the liver) is more frequent than primary liver cancer (cancer originating in the liver). The reason for this is since the liver’s role is to detoxify the blood coming from the digestive tract or other parts of the body; it is very easy for it to ‘catch’ some malignant cells present in the blood which will in the future grow and develop into a metastasis in the liver.
